Workshop

The Invisible Elephant Project: 1000 voices of the Chronic Commons (Workshop)

Please note: An associated Performance & Discussion will take place on Tuesday, January 31 from noon - 1 p.m.

Working between the fields of theater and healthcare, Marina Tsaplina, a performing artist, patient advocate, and founder of THE BETES Organization (http://www.thebetes.org/) is cultivating space for participants to feel and understand how the complex lived experience of chronic illness is embodied.

The workshop will primarily explore how THE BETES uses the language of theater to make visible hidden aspects of life with chronic illness. We will work with exercises from masters such as Grotowski, Margolis, and the field of Object Theater to begin to explore how chronic illness fractures embodiment and the emotional experiences that may arise from this.

The experiential and movement based work will be partnered with discussion and analysis of the real life challenges and opportunities of bringing this work into the world and how BETES' evolving method of working with patients, healthcare providers, and the general public is developed.

Please bring a hard object of your liking with you to the workshop.

Reserve your space at the January 31 performance or February 1 workshop at http://bit.ly/EventBriteElephant.
