Event

while our blood’s still young

A new devised performance by Genesis, created & performed by Amanda Dunne Acevedo & Lindsey Barlag Thornton

Hybridizing theatre, performance art, and dance, Genesis’s work experiments with the boundaries of various live performance forms. Collaboratively conceived and performed by Amanda Dunne Acevedo and Lindsey Barlag Thornton, while our blood’s still young is centrally located around the theme of exhaustion. Interweaving movement, text, and music, the performance both authentically produces exhaustion and intentionally reproduces the “act” of exhaustion. It is a high energy, high impact, messy romp of bright, aerobic aesthetics exploring the physical, mental, and emotional states of exhaustion as they relate to contemporary experiences.

Registration is not required, but feel free to indicate your interest in attending by visiting the event listing on the ADRI Facebook page.

Genesis will also offer a workshop "Devising Collaborative Performance" from noon-2:00 p.m. on Monday, October 23.

Based in Chicago, Genesis is an artistic partnership between Amanda Dunne Acevedo and Lindsey Barlag Thornton. Through collaborative and interdisciplinary experimentation, Genesis creates performance that intentionally considers space and audience. Genesis values curiosity, discovery and passion in our artistic practice and relationships. Genesis curates and produces the bi-yearly event, HybridSalon, an evening of interdisciplinary performance made in collaboration.
