Workshop

hap•tic: relating to the sense of touch, in particular relating to the perception and manipulation of objects using the senses of touch and proprioception

Led by Jenny Kenyon, ADRI Research Associate and Forensic Artist

Participate in this hands-on workshop to discover and discuss the basics of virtual sculpting and object creations with a haptic arm and other virtual sculpting options. Registration is not required, and participants are invited to join in the workshop and leave at their convenience—it is not necessary to stay for the full three hours.

The instructor will provide an overview of using a haptic arm, along with 3D sculpting in Mudbox, which is free for students to download (https://www.autodesk.com/products/mudbox/overview). Participants are welcome to test a haptic arm and to practice using Mudbox on their laptops or drawing tablets. (Haptic arms will be available, but laptops and drawing tablets will not be provided.) The coordinator of the Digital Fabrication and Specialized Technologies (DigiFab) Lab will be on hand to provide information and answer questions about this resource.
