This national film contest encourages interdisciplinary teams of undergraduate students to create Schoolhouse Rock! type animated music videos as a way to learn about antiracism and confront their own biases. Teams of students from US universities are invited to participate in shared arc of learning as they develop their original works and discover ways to participate in the creator economy. Submitted videos will be evaluated on clarity of entrepreneurial concept, educational merit, musical/lyrical artistry, visual artistry, and inclusive spirit of the contest by a panel of accomplished judges in each of these domains.

The contest supports research on the role of narratives and media representation in the demographics of innovative entrepreneurship. One planned study will examine the videos’ ability to influence the ways that 8-12 year-old girls and children of color think about innovative entrepreneurship and their future career paths. Future phases of this project may involve developing open-source learning materials for K-12 settings that feature founders from non-dominant groups and highlight the creative and collaborative practices of innovative entrepreneurship.
